Getting that first win of the season really gives teams that extra incentive to repeat the process and come back with another solid victory. That is definitely the case for the Ville Platte High Bulldogs.

It had been a very long time since the Basile Bearcats had come into a game winless on the season. However, that is what the perennial powerhouse football program faced when they collided with the Port Barre Red Devils this past Thursday night.

MAMOU -- In a showdown between teams looking for their first win of the season, the Ville Platte Bulldogs scored with 10 seconds on the clock to ease past the Mamou Demons 18-12 in a District 5-3A contest Friday night.

NEW ROADS -- For some unknown reason, when the Sacred Heart Trojans battle the Catholic of Point Coupee Hornets, drama ensues. Two years ago, Sacred Heart found themselves on the losing side of a 23-17 game that came down to the last play.

Basile gets past Port Barre; picks up first win of the year

PORT BARRE -- The Basile Bearcats were oh so close last week in their one point loss to the Grand Lake Hornets. But, in that loss, you could see that Basile was starting to get back on track and play Bearcat football the way it was meant to be.

As the saying goes, to have a twin would be like looking in a mirror. The same saying can be applied when you take a look at the Mamou High Demon and Ville Platte High Bulldog football programs in 2020. Look at Ville Platte, you see Mamou; look at Mamou and you see Ville Platte.

The Pine Prairie Panthers are not your typical 0-3 team. Unlike most team that do not have a win up to this point in the season, the Panthers are not about to cash it in. Instead, the Pine Prairie football squad still has a ton of life inside of them.
