Transfer from Benton does not derail Hood’s success at Sacred Heart

VILLE PLATTE - Life changed the second senior Caleb Hood stepped on to Sacred Heart’s campus as a transfer from Class 5A Benton. As he described it, the people were a little warmer, the life a little slower. The memories, a lot bigger. “It’s a completely different world around here,” Hood said.

BASILE - The Ville Platte Gazette Evangeline Parish Defensive MVP, Basile senior linebacker Baylor McCoy, is a coach’s son in every sense of the word. His dad, Bryan McCoy, coaches the defensive unit for the Bearcats.

BASILE - Nothing defined The Ville Platte Gazette Evangeline Parish Coach of the Year’s season like the beginning did. Basile head coach Kevin Bertrand’s team was sitting at 0-3 and down three touchdowns at halftime to Hamilton Christian. 0-4 starts don’t happen very often in Basile, if ever.
