Sacred Heart, Ville Platte get going in non-district action

The Sacred Heart and Ville Platte High basketball teams took to the court this week in non-district competition.
The Sacred Heart Trojans and Lady Trojans traveled to Alexandria to take on the Menard Eagles and Lady Eagles on Monday, while the Ville Platte Bulldogs hosted Eunice and the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs hosted Pine Prairie Tuesday night.
Here is a run down of those games.

Sacred Heart (G)
vs. Menard
Sacred Heart fell behind early on in this contest, trailing 9-2 after one quarter of play as they went down 38-30.
The Lady Trojans gathered themselves offensively to take the two-point lead, 14-12, heading into the locker room at halftime.
Menard rebouded and outscored Sacred Heart 26-16 over the final two periods to take the win.

Sacred Heart (B)
vs. Menard
The Trojans did not bring enough fire power on offense to out do the Eagles in a 83-33 loss on the road.
Menard led 23-8 at the end of one quarter and took a 48-13 lead into the locker room.
The only double digit quarter for Sacred Heart was the fourth, as they knocked down 13 points.

Ville Platte (G)
vs. Pine Prairie
The Lady Bulldogs held serve, out pacing the Lady Panthers 18-13 in the first half on their way to a 43-33 win.
Ville Platte added 12 points in the third quarter and another 13 points in the final period.

Ville Platte (B)
vs. Eunice
Ville Platte scored 22 points in the final quarter, as they sailed past Eunice 67-53 in the nightcap on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs took an 18-10 lead after one period and owned a 29-23 lead at the half.
