Pine Prairie loses both district contests at Northwest

PRAIRIE RHONDE -- With all of the weather conditions that invaded Acadiana over the past two days, all of the teams in the parish were forced to cancel their normal Tuesday night contests.
However, one school thought ahead of the curve and moved their scheduled games to Monday night just to make sure that they would not have to play on back-to-back days if Thursday became the first day that they could reschedule.
So three nights ago, the Pine Prairie Panthers and the Lady Panthers traveled here to take on the Northwest Raiders and Lady Raiders in key district contests.
Coming into the league doubleheader, the Panthers held a 2-2 record in district play and were two game out of first place District 5-3A. So a win over the Raiders would have been huge in terms of the district race for Pine Prairie.
Unfortunately, the Panthers were not able to gain any ground in the league title chase, as they fell to Northwest 62-31,
The game started decently for Pine Prairie as they found themselves down by only 12 points, 27-15, at the end of the first quarter.
If any quarter made a big impact on the way the game turned out, it would have to be the second quarter. In that period the Panthers could only muster three points and found themselves down 39-18 as the first half closed out.
The final two quarters were not any better offensively for Pine Prairie, with the Panthers accumulating a paltry 13 total points in the second half.
Jordan Ardoin led all Pine Prairie scorers with 10 points.
If offense was hard to find in the boys’ game, the Lady Panthers had an even harder time finding it against the Lady Raiders, as they fell 55-14.
Northwest jumped out to a 29-3 lead after one quarter of play and trailed 45-5 as the initial half came to an end.
The lone spot light for Pine Prairie in the game came in the third quarter, when the Lady Panthers out scored the Lady Raiders 7-4.
Brianna Wall led Pine Prairie with six points. The Lady Panthers fall to 2-4 in league play.
