Pine Prairie ladies, Mamou boys pick up wins Tuesday

The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers took care of business Tuesday night as they rolled past the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs 54-35 in the first District 5-3A contest for both teams.
With their win over Ville Platte, Pine Prairie improved to 10-3 overall and 1-0 in district play. The Lady Panthers are scheduled to play at Northwest High Tuesday night in a league contest.
The loss to Pine Prairie dropped Ville Platte to 6-6 overall and 0-1 in district competition. The Lady Bulldogs will continue league play Tuesday night when they travel to Mamou to take on the Lady Demons.
Meanwhile, the Mamou High Demon boys’ basketball team secured another win on the season when the slipped past the Rosepine Eagles 77-74 Tuesday night.
The win over Rosepine puts Mamou at 6-13 on the year. The Demons will host the Ville Platte Bulldogs this Tuesday night in the first district contest for both squads.
Here is a rundown of both games:

Pine Prairie
vs. Ville Platte
Pine Prairie showed early that they were the better team on the night as they jumped out to a 20-12 lead after one quarter of play. Kameron Allen knocked down seven points in the opening period to push the big advantage the Lady Panthers started out with.
The second quarter saw some deadly outside shooting from Pine Prairie as Asia George nailed three baskets from beyond the three-point arc. Those buckets were good enough to give the Lady Panthers a 17-9 edge in the period and take a 37-21 lead into the locker room.
Ville Platte made a valiant run at Pine Prairie in the third quarter, as Trinity Leday hit on 10 of her 16 points in the period. However, the Lady Panthers were still too strong for the Lady Bulldogs as they outpaced Ville Platte 15-11 in the period.
The final quarter was insignificant, as the two teams combined to only score five points.
George led all scorers with 20 points, while Allen chipped in 14 points for the Lady Panthers.
Leday had 16 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs.

Mamou vs. Rosepine
It was Rosepine that showed up to play in the first quarter, with the Eagles out gunning Mamou 26-12 to open up a seemingly insurmountable lead.
Neverthless, Collin Enicke collected eight points in the second quarter and, along with the rest of the Demon squad, managed to outpace Rosepine 20-16 in the period.
Mamou continued their blistering offensive pace in the third quarter, producing 21 more points. With that production, the Demons went into the final period trailing the Eagles by only three, 55-53.
In the final quarter of the game, Enicke lit up the scoreboard, slashing the nets for 14 points and leading Mamou to a 24-17 advantage and the win.
Enicke had a game high 25 points, while Jaquan Jack chipped in 13 points. Devin Ardoin added 12 points to the winning cause.
