Overcoming dissapointment

New Orleans Saints on track to another Super Bowl run; put “no call” behind them

We all know the heartbreak and disappointment that was the 2018 season for the New Orleans Saints.
However, head coach Sean Payton and the organization have put what happened in the NFC Championship game to rest and are now focused on making sure that 2019 brings more palatable results.
During the offseason, the Saints made a number of decisions based on salary cap and payroll. One of those decisions: release all time rushing touchdown leader in club history, Mark Ingram.
New Orleans undoubtedly wanted to keep Ingram, but could not afford him. So, the Saints went out and got someone they could afford; someone they thought could come in and help out Alvin Kamara. That someone was Latavius Murray.
From all accounts, Murray is a running back with talent that is waiting to break out. Most analysts say that if not for the not so reliable offensive line in Minnesota, Murray would be one of the elite backs in the league.
New Orleans also made sure that all-world wide out Michael Thomas stay aboard the Payton train when they inked him for unprecedented money. Unlike Ingram, Thomas was definitely worth the money paid out by the Saints.
Projecting who stays and who goes when the Saints cut their roster down to 53 on Saturday will be tricky in some spots.
On the offensive side of the ball, Payton has his three quarterbacks already set with future Hall-of-Famer Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill. It will be just a matter of adding a quarterback to the practice squad.
Kamara, Murray and Dwayne Washington seem to be the choices for the three running back spots with Zach Line staying on as the fullback.
The wide receiver position is probably the most interesting of all positions. Besides the obvious trio of Thomas, Ted Ginn and Tre’Quan Smith, Payton must decide who will be the others to join them.
The wildcard in the bunch is Keith Kirkwood. A healthy Kirkwood would more than likely be on the roster. But, he has battled injury. That leaves the door open for Austin Carr, Emmanuel Butler and Deonte Harris.
Payton likes to keep three tight ends and his has that in Jared Cook, Josh Hill and Dan Arnold.
On the offensive line, Payton loves versatility and will get that with Terron Armstead, Ryan Ramczyk, Andrus Peat, Larry Warford, Erik McCoy, Nick Easton, Cameron Tom and Will Clapp.
On the defensive front, the Saints will have a formidable bunch with Cameron Jordan, Marcus Davenport, Trey Hendrickson and Wes Horton at the ends and Malcom Brown, Sheldon Rankins, Mario Edwards Jr., Taylor Stallworth and Sylvester Williams at the tackles.
The linebacking corps should include Demario Davis, A.J. Klein, Alex Anzalone, Craig Robertson, Vince Biegel, and Kaden Elliss.
The corners are mostly set with Marshon Lattimore, Eli Apple, P.J. Williams, Patrick Robinson, Justin Hardee and Kayvon Webster while the safeties will probably end up being Vonn Bell, Marcus Williams, Chris Banjo, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, J.T. Gray.
No doubt about it Thomas Morestead and Will Lutz as the kickers.
