MAMOU – The Mamou Demons ended their season the way it began with a loss to a very talented team, as they fell to the Northwest Raiders 37-16 here Friday night.
With the loss, Mamou finished the year 1-9 overall and 1-6 in District 5-3A play.
“This has been a season of ups and downs,” stated Mamou head coach Brian Brumfield. “But, we have come away a better ball club in the long run, with a lot of young players getting a ton of playing time. One thing I will say, the seniors on this team showed great character and leadership the entire year. They were able to let the younger guys see what it means to never give up and play with passion on every snap. I am forever grateful to these seniors.”
It was really a tale of two halves for the Demons and the Raiders, as Northwest owned the first half and Mamou producing all of their points in the second half.
Northwest got on the board twice in the first quarter, scoring on 79-yard kick off return and a 61 yard pass play.
The Raiders added two more touchdowns in the second quarter, breaking out to a 30-0 half time lead over Mamou.
However, the Demons came out in the second half ready to play, putting up their first points of the night in the third quarter on a seven yard touchdown pass from Thomas Atkins to Nakrien Jack.
Mamou added to their total in the fourth quarter, as Jaylon Griffith blasted his way in to the end zone from one yard out.
