Lady Trojans fall hard in league loss to Lady Gators

VILLE PLATTE -- It was not a great afternoon for the Sacred Heart Lady Trojan softball team, as they took one on the chin in a 16-1 loss to the False River Lady Gators here Tuesday afternoon.
In the game, the Lady Gators out hit the Lady Trojans 16-2 and dominated from the very first inning. Sacred Heart was unable to score until the bottom of the fourth inning.
With the loss the Lady Trojans fall to 10-9 on the season and 2-3 in district play. Sacred Heart will host the Breaux Bridge Lady Tigers on Monday afternoon.
False River jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play and added three more runs in the top of the third.
The Lady Gators pounded the ball in the top of the fourth inning, coming away with eight devastating runs.
The Lady Trojans lone run came in the bottom half of the inning. Karli Fontenot was hit by the pitch to lead things off.
Camille Soileau laid down a great sacrifice bunt, moving Fontenot over to second base. Tobie Landry followed with a triple into deep center field to plate Fontenot. Unfortunately, Sacred Heart could not continue the rally and was shut down the rest of the at bat.
False River finished the game off by adding three more runs in the top of the fifth inning.
