Lady Panthers remain undefeated; secure huge wins

The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers are definitely back on track this year and looked poised to make a deep run into the Class 3A post-season, as they picked up three more huge wins to remain undefeated on the young season.
This past weekend, the Lady Panthers took down Comeaux 12-2 and Westgate 10-9 at the St. Thomas More tournament.
On Monday, Pine Prairie then ran their overall record to 5-0 after beating the Buckeye Lady Panthers at home 10-1.
So, far this season, the Lady Panthers have scored in double figures in every ball game and have out scored their opponents 64-22.
Against Comeaux on Saturday, Pine Prairie scored in every inning to pick up the win over the Class 5A Lady Spartans.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the very first pitch of the game, when Jacie McFarlain launched a ball over the left field fence for a solo home run.
Comeaux was sent down in order in the bottom of the first, only to have Pine Prairie collect two more runs in the top of the second inning. Maycie Hardy and Kaitlin Robinson touched home plate on a two out single from Abby Fontenot.
Another blast over the fence off of the bat of McFarlain in the top of the fourth scored two more runs to give Pine Prairie a commanding 5-0 lead.
The Lady Panthers would go on to score five more runs in the top of the fifth and finish out their run production in the sixth with a duo of runs.
Comeaux’s lone pair of runs came in the bottom of the fourth inning.
On Monday, Pine Praire jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, in taking the home win over Buckeye.
After shutting down Buckeye in the top of the first inning, the Lady Panthers smacked the ball around in the bottom of the first to pick up the first two runs of the game.
McFarlain led off with a double and was followed by a bunt single from Abby Fontenot. Two batters later, Brianna Wall single home both McFarlain and Fontenot.
Pine Prairie tacked on three more in the bottom of the second. Gabbie Briscoe singled and reached second on a sacrifice bunt from Kailey Soileau.
McFarlain singled, scoring Briscoe. Fontenot, the next batter in the line-up, doubled putting runners at second and third with one out. Tori Johnson plated both McFarlain and Fontenot with a single of her own.
The Lady Panthers did not score again until the bottom of the fifth, when they put up three more runs. Pine Prairie finished their offensive output in the bottom of the sixth with two more runs.
