Lady Panthers blast Lady Raiders; look to finish out season

PINE PRAIRIE -- The wins just keep on coming for the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers, as they rolled to a 16-1 victory over the Northwest Lady Raiders here Tuesday afternoon.
In the game, the Lady Panthers struck for 16 hits, seven of those in the extra bases category, while holding the Lady Raiders to only three hits and four base runners the entire game.
With the win, Pine Prairie is now 24-3 on the season and 11-1 in District 5-3A. The Lady Panthers were scheduled to play Glenmora on Wednesday and were traveling to Iota to take on the Lady Bulldogs this afternoon. Game time against Iota is set for 5:30 p.m.
Pine Prairie sprinted out to an 11-1 lead after one inning of play. Jacie McFarlain singled to lead things off and moved to second base when Sydia King drew a walk.
A passed ball put the runners at second and third, when they scored on a single by Tori Johnson. Karli Ortego followed with a single, moving Johnson to second.
Allie Fontenot doubled scoring Johnson and Ortego and came home on a double by Katie Jo Maricle. Abby Arnaud blasted home Marcantel and herself with a two run dinger over the left field wall.
With the bases empty, Maycie Hardy singled and moved to third on a single off of the bat of Brianna Wall. McFarlain, in her second at bat of the inning, singled home Hardy and moved Wall to third.
After stealing second base, McFarlain and Wall touched the plate on a single from Tori Johnson. The final run of the inning came when Johnson was plated by a Kailey Soileau double.
The Lady Panthers picked up three more runs in the bottom of the second inning. A one out double by Hardy was followed by a double off of the bat of Wall, bringing Hardy home.
McFarlain would follow with a single, her third hit of the game, plating Wall. With two outs, Johnson brought home McFarlain with a single to right field.
Pine Prairie’s final two runs came in the bottom of the third inning. Kaitlin Robinson led off with a double and moved to third on a passed ball. She would score when Arnaud grounded out to short stop. Hardy closed out the scoring later in the at bat.
