VILLE PLATTE -- After disappointing back-to-back one run losses to Eunice and Lake Arthur, the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs came home to take on perennial powerhouse Notre Dame Thursday afternoon in a District 6-2A contest.
The Lady Pioneers proved to be a little too much at the plate and on the mound, as they held the Lady Bulldogs to one base hit in a 20-0 win.
With the loss, Ville Platte drops to 1-7 on the year and 0-2 in league play. The Lady Bulldogs will host Eunice tomorrow. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
“Notre Dame is a great team, no doubt about it,” stated Ville Platte head coach Devinskie Arvie. “Still, I am proud of the way the players have performed all season. They come ready to play day in and day out and give a tremendous effort every time they touch the field. We are definitely on the right track.”
After shutting down the Notre Dame offense in the top of the first, Ville Platte got a two out hit from Whitney Ledoux. However, the Lady Bulldogs could not push the run across.
The Lady Pioneers picked up seven runs in the second, two in the fourth and 11 runs in the fifth to seal the win.
