Former Basile High standout basketball player, Riley James, has helped propel the LSU-E Lady Bengals to a fast-paced 9-2 record to start the 2017-18 season.
James poured in a season high 27 points just a week and a half ago as the Lady Bengals blew out Southwestern Christian for a second straight night, 94-66.
Just this past weekend, James notched 21 and 20 points respectfully in back-to-back blow out wins over Patrick Henry Community College.
In this past Saturday night’s 103-65 demolishing win over Patrick Henry, the Lady Bengals scored the most points in a game since 2010.
The Bengals threw the first big blow early, starting the game on a 15-2 run. Sissy Saucier and James both knocked down a pair of three pointers to help LSU-E race out to a nine point first quarter lead, 30-21.
Saucier scored 14 of her 15 points in the first half to help lead the Bengals to a 53-39 edge into the locker rooms.
LSUE stormed out the gate in the third quarter, outscoring Patrick Henry 26-13. A 15-5 run late in the quarter helped the Bengals push their advantage to 28 points before the reserves took over for the rest of the game.
James has been amazing over the first 11 games this year. The sophomore has averaged 16.6 points per game and is shooting over 45 percent from the floor.
