LAFAYETTE -- A 76-54 loss at the hands of the LSU Lady Tigers Thursday night has given the ULL Lady Cajuns (2-8) their sixth loss in a row in regular season games dating back to November 25.
In that game, sophomore guard Skyler Goodwin finished with 12 points to lead Louisiana in scoring, as the Ragin’ Cajuns finished with three in double-figures, Tyreonna Doucet (11 points) and freshman guard Diamond Morrison (10 points).
ULL held Louisiana State to under 40 percent shooting from the field during the first half, but a strong shooting second half, helped Louisiana State pull away from ULL over the final two periods.
ULL hits the road for one last non-conference game when the Ragin’ Cajuns head to Starkville, Miss., to face No. 4 Mississippi State on Dec. 30. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game will be televised on the SEC Network Plus and broadcast on ESPN1420.
Despite the recent team slide, former Ville Platte High standout, Tyreonna Doucet, has shown that she is a force to be reckoned with on the collegiate level.
The sophomore has taken her game to the next level and continues to help lead her team against some outstanding competition.
In those last six losses, Doucet is averaging 13 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game; almost a double-double per contest.
In fact, Doucet did pick up double-doubles against the likes of SEC opponents Auburn and Ole Miss. Her third double-doubled in that time frame came against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Doucet’s seven double-doubles on the year ties her for the second-most by anyone in the NCAA.
On the season, Doucet is leading the team in minutes per game (33.6), points per game (16) and rebounds per game (11.6). The 6’1 center also leads the team with 19 steals and 12 blocks.
Her 116 rebounds ranks her ninth in the country in total boards.
Against in-state opponent McNeese on November 11, Doucet had an amazing night, collecting 29 points and 22 rebounds. The 22 boards set a school record which was previously held by Teena Cooper who recorded that number in 1988.
