OAKDALE -- On Tuesday night the Oakdale Warriors and Lady Warriors shot the arrows of losses and pierced the heart of both the Mamou Demons and the Lady Demons in a double-header of non-district basketball action.
In the girl’s game, Oakdale blanked Mamou in the first quarter of action and used that as momentum in a 44-24 win. With the loss the Lady Demons fall to 3-8 on the year.
The nightcap saw Mamou lose a three-point lead at the half, only to have Oakdale push past for a 47-38 win. The Demons drop to 3-9 on the season with the defeat.
Here is a re-cap of both games played.

Mamou (G) vs. Oakdale
Despite neither team getting off to a good start offensively, Oakdale owned the first quarter of play by blanking Mamou and taking a 9-0 lead as the period came to a close.
Mamou finally put up their first points of the night when they were able to convert on a three-point bucket to open the second quarter. The Lady Warriors went on a 13-2 run over the next 4:50 to take a 22-5 lead.
The Lady Demons were able to pick up one more basket before the first half horn sounded.
Mamou opened the third quarter on a 5-2 run when Dacia Richard scored a basket and Brianna Thibodeaux knocked down a three-point shot. However, Oakdale would not let the Lady Demons break inside of double digits, owning a 33-20 lead at the end of the period.
From that point on, Oakdale’s Lauren Holmes took over, scoring seven points in the final quarter to extend the Lady Warrior lead and seal the win.

Mamou (B) vs. Oakdale
Game two of the night was a little more competitive than the first game, as Mamou took an early 6-2 lead at the 5:31 mark. Over the course of the remaining time in the period, neither club could produce much more offense with the Demons holding an 8-4 advantage after one period of play.
Oakdale scored the first three points of the second quarter on a free throw by Nic Holmes and a basket from Dalvin Gradney. Mamou increased their lead back to four, 11-7, on free throws from Trevon Gallow and Tyrian Broussard.
The Demons stretched their advantage to seven points, 17-10, over the next 1:22 by using a suffocating defense that created a number of turnovers. Oakdale slowly cut back into the deficit and found themselves only two points down, 17-15, with 2:43 to go in the half.
The final minutes of the second quarter was basically a wash as the two teams headed into the locker room with Mamou holding on to a 22-19 lead.
A renewed sense of urgency grabbed hold of the Warriors in the third quarter as they worked their way to a 7-0 run to start the period to take their first lead of the night, 26-22. That lead increased to 32-24 over the course of the next 2:31 seconds, as the Warriors took full advantage of their inside game.
Mamou’s Brian Thomas knocked down a bucket with 21 seconds to go in the period to make it a 32-26 game before the close of the third quarter.
Kyrian Green lifted the Demon spirits to begin the final quarter of play, scoring six points in an 8-2 run that evened the game up at 34-34 with 5:48 remaining. However, Gradney took over the game once more, collecting five of the next eight Warrior points to put Oakdale up 42-36 with 2:46 to go.
The Warriors closed out the remaining minutes of the contest on a 5-2 run to put the Demons away and finish off the win.
Green had 14 points to lead the Demons on the evening.
