This weekend will be chalk full of baseball, as both of the Dixie Youth Coach Pitch teams and the T-Ball team will be in action for their respective District 7 Tournaments.
The 8U Coach Pitch All-Stars must travel to Longville for their action, while the 7U Coach Pitch and 6U T-Ball teams stay here in Ville Platte for the chance at a district title.
The 8U and 6U tournament will start on Thursday while the 7U tournament does not begin until Friday. All three of the teams did manage to win their sub-district tournaments last weekend and are looking to continue that success on the field this coming weekend.
In 8U action, Ville Platte starts round-robin pool play on Thursday with a game against Pine Prairie at 5:30 p.m.. On Friday, the All-Stars will take on Oberlin at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, Ville Platte will face off against Vernon National at 10:30 a.m. and follow that up with a contest at 4:30 p.m. against Mamou. The All-Stars will then head to bracket play on Sunday.
Who they face in bracket play and what time they play depends on how they fare in pool play. The tournament will be a double elimination bracket on Sunday and will conclude on Monday.
Other teams set to play in an opposite pool are Oakdale, Dequincy, Deridder, South Beauregard and Vernon American.
The 6U T-Ball District Tournament also begins on Thursday with two pools battling in a round robin format. Ville Platte is scheduled to open play with a 6:45 p.m. game against Oberlin Thursday afternoon.
The All-Stars continue play on Friday at 6:45 p.m. against Vernon National. On Saturday, Ville Platte faces Deridder at 10:30 a.m. and South Beauregard at 12 p.m.
Just as the 8U tournament, the 6U All-Stars will begin bracket play on Sunday and must see how they do in pool play to determine an opponent and a time. Bracket play ends on Monday.
The 7U Coach Pitch All-Stars will start their district play on Friday. The tournament format for the 7U age group is a double elimination bracket.
Ville Platte takes on Pine Prairie in their first game at 7 p.m. Friday evening. That game follows the contest between Deridder and Oakdale. A win would give Ville Platte a 4:30 p.m. game on Sunday.
