BOSSIER CITY – It was not the state championship that the Basile Bearcats wanted, but it was a great showing for one of the youngest wrestling teams to compete at the Division III State Wrestling Tournament this past weekend.
The Bearcats, behind three individual state championships, put up a team total of 173.5 points to take fourth place overall behind St. Louis, De LaSalle and Ouachita Christian.
“I thought the guys fought really hard this entire season,” stated head coach Brian McCoy. “The younger guys stepped up big time and gave us a chance at the overall title. We have improved every week and this weekend showed that.”
