Sacred Heart celebrates Christmas Under the Oaks

On a cold, windy night in early January with the Christmas season winding down, Sacred Heart students reminded the community that Light entered the darkness of the world on Christmas day, and this Light was Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This message from the students came during their annual Christmas Under the Oaks which was performed outside of Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, January 7. The performance chronicled events of Christ’s birth in Bethlehem such as the angel Gabriel coming to Mary, Mary visitng her cousin Elizabeth in the hill country of Judea, Caesar ordering a census, and the arrival of the shepherds and the magi. The Praise Team dancers also braved the elements as they performed for the crowd. In the top photo, angels Emma Buller, Julianne Estilette, and Catherine Fontenot greet the newborn Jesus and the Holy Family of James Wilson and Mary Dupre. In the bottom photo, Thomas Irby, as the angel Gabriel, announces to Dupre, as Mary, that she would conceive a child and that her cousin Elizabeth is in her sixth month. (Gazette photos by Tony Marks)
