VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services were held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Vile Platte at 9:00 a.m. for Winston Soileau. Winston passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 90.
Winston was laid to rest in the St. Ann’s Mausoleum in Mamou with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating services.
Winston was born and raised in Ville Platte and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a salesman by trade having worked at Guillory Wholesale, Guillory Brother’s Engine Service, Tri-Parish Flying Service, and Buller’s Lumber Yard. When not spending time with his family, Winston enjoyed spending time outdoors and taking care of his farm. This hard working, loving man was loved by all that knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Glynn Soileau and wife, Penny and Gary Soileau and wife, Susan; daughter, Pamela S. Manuel and husband, Benny; brother, JC Soileau; and sisters, Lela Mae “Sis” Soileau, Shirley Fontenot, Laura Jane Guttoso, Patsy Courville, Flora “Flossie” Fontenot, and Barbara Reed. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Chuck Soileau, Casey Gary, Adrienne Wolf, Michael Soileau, and Jake Manuel and six great-grandchilden.
Winston is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lozy Soileau; wife, Pearl Fuselier Soileau; brothers, Vernel Soileau, Sylvan Soileau, and Larry Soileau; sister, Lou Smith, and granddaughter, Morgan Soileau.
At the request of the family, visitation was held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. A rosary was prayed in his honor Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.
