MAMOU – Funeral services was held at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, September 29, 2018, for Wilvis James Espree, 73, who passed away on September 25, 2018 in Alexandria.
Father Matthew Hebert was celebrant of the mass and conducted the funeral services.
Burial took place in New St Ann’s Cemetery.
Wilvis was born on July 5, 1945 to Sandrus “Tee-Toe” Espree and Vernice Allen Espree. He was a truck driver for Charles Holston out of Jennings for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, driving around buying Lottery and Powerball tickets, sitting on the front porch with his dogs drinking Bud Light and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his two sons, Randy Espree of Clarissa, MN and Timothy Espree and wife, Shaney of Church Point; one daughter, Antoinette Espree of Connecticut; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Ashton, Apryle, Callah and Cobie Espree; one great grandson, Killian Henderson and three sisters, Verna Guillory and husband, Amos of Swords, Rose Guillory of Lake Charles and Margaret Espree of Crowley.
He is preceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel Deculus Espree; two brothers, Gurvis Espree and Andrus “Beau Jocque” Espree.
The family requested that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. A rosary was recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Gary Gaudin. Visitation resumed on Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
