Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church for Mitchell Kim Brown, age 56, who passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. David Hebert, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was a self-employed truck driver for B&B Trucking. He was a D.J. “Big Mitch D.J.” and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. He grew up riding and showing horses and was President of the Louisiana Jr. Quarter Horse Association where he received the Sportsmanship Award. He was “Nonkie” to his four nieces.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Manuel Brown; three step sons, Damon Troy Dugas, Derrick Dugas and Drake Dugas; and one brother, Christopher Brown all of Lafayette; one sister, Deborah Hash and her husband, Tom, of Sunset; one uncle, Lavergne Manuel and his wife, Dolly; four nieces, Sadie Hash, Amelia Brown (his godchild), Gabrielle Brown and Caitlin Brown; one nephew, Thomas Hash, Jr.; and two godchildren, Gaige DeRouen and Shealyn Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Olin Brown.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. today, Thursday, February 8, 2018 in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. today, Thursday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Steve Boudreaux, Brad Boudreaux, Curtis Calloway, Jason Jagneaux, and Richard Calais. Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Hebert.
