MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie on Thursday, today July 12, 2018, for Mertie Jane Bogard, 80, who passed away on July 08, 2018 in Vidrine,.
Brother Daniel Holsomback, pastor of First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie, will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in New St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mamou.
Jane was a long-time resident of Vidrine. She was born in Oakdale to Allie Paul, Sr. and Mille Ashworth Paul. In her early years she began her career in banking having worked at Citizens Bank of Ville Platte, she then went on to Tri-Parish Bank of Eunice, and worked for over 20 years with Guaranty Bank of Mamou. After many years in the banking industry she became a very familiar face at Dr. Tommy Fontenot’s office where she served as his office manager for 20 years. Jane was an athlete in her youth, she enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in tournaments all over the country. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie. She loved sewing and reading, but sewing was her passion.
She is survived by two daughters, Vickie B. Fontenot and husband, Keith A. Fontenot of Vidrine and Vonda Bogard Jordan and husband, Linus Jordan, Jr. of Eunice; one son, Craig A. Bogard and wife, Michelle T. Bogard of St. Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren, Natalie F. Guillory, Justin B. Fontenot, Adam Lloyd Dupre, Samuel Broc Dupre, Lindsay Elizabeth Jordan, Kelli Jo B. Cobb, Nicole Bogard, Abby Bogard, Samantha Bogard, Kate Bogard; twelve great grandchildren; her brother, Allie Paul, Jr. of Oakdale; five sisters, Betty Willis of Calhoun, Norma Perry of Oakdale, Leola Burkett of Oakdale, EvyLou Ashworth of Oakdale and Dean Hillman of Dothan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darwin Lloyd Bogard; sister, Verna Mae Doyle and three brothers, Carl Paul, C.J. Paul and Gilbert Paul.
The family requests that visitation was observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue today at First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
