VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services for Ms. Tate, age 86, were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Gates of Heaven Mausoleum.
Ms. Tate, a resident of Ville Platte, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas.
Ms. Ruth was a native and a lifelong resident of Ville Platte. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church where she was a member of The Catholic Daughters and founder of a neighborhood rosary group. She and her late husband, Alvin, owned and operated Tate’s Men & Boy’s Clothing Store which opened in 1960.
She was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed dearly by her family.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her three sons; Michael Tate and his wife, Jeannette, Louis Steve Tate and his wife, Gwen, and Gregory Tate, all of Ville Platte; one daughter, Annette Tate Arnaud of Opelousas; one sister, Joan Guillory of Opelousas; 13 grandchildren, Lucas Tate, Dr. Jonathan Tate and his wife, Dr. Jody, Dr. Michelle Gardner and her husband, Dr. Will, Robbie Tate and his wife, Christy, Richie Tate, Becky Arnaud and her husband, Chad, Stephan Tate and his wife, Kayla, Brooke Lafleur and her husband, Brant, Jamie Vidrine and her husband, Coty, Tyler Tate, Amanda Everett and her husband, Rene, Kyle Arnaud and his fiancée, Kaitlyn, and Cody Arnaud; 26 great grandchildren and one on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband of 49 years, Louis Alvin “Bad” Tate; her parents, Clement and Alicia Morein; one brother, J.C. Morein; and one sister, Grace Morein Slaven.
A rosary was prayed at 6:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and continued from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at 10 a.m.
