MARY “BUTCH” LAFLEUR THOMPSON February 18, 1933 - June 12, 2017

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 2:00 PM in St. Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church in Lafayette for Mary Lafleur Thompson, 84, who died on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette surrounded by her family. Interment was in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Very Reverend Louis J. Richard, VF, was the Celebrant of the funeral mass and was conducted by the funeral services. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Dr. Kristin Thompson Plauche and her husband, Dr. Andy Plauche and Kathryn Wimberley; one son, Robert Thompson, Jr., and his wife, Kay; two sisters, Lucille Daigle and Madeline Royer; one brother JF Lafleur; seven grandchildren, Jo Beth Plauche, Drew Plauche, Robert Thompson, III, Manda Lafleur, Robyn Blackwell, Doug Wimberley and Holly Husband; and nine great-grandchildren, Rhys and Callie Blackwell, Emily Husband, Alex and Meagan Wimberley, Noah and Shaley Lafleur, Tucker and Harper Thompson; and three great great grandchildren Rory, Khloe Brown and Ivy Lafleur. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Dr. Robert B. Thompson, Sr.; her parents, Joseph F. Lafleur and Mary A. Bell Lafleur; one daughter Alice Penn; and one son Steven Thompson. Mary Lafleur Thompson was a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a native of Ville Platte, La and a resident of Broussard for over 25 years. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Community in Broussard. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers was Drew Plauche, Noah Lafleur, Teddy Beaullieu, Dave Broussard, Taylor Ortte, and Joel Plauche. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Thompson, Jr., and Robert Thompson, III. A Rosary was recited by Sister Carmelita Latiolais on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille’s downtown location. The family requested that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continuing on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of services. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Daniel Frey, Tracy, and Charlotte for the 25 years of outstanding care and compassion following her kidney transplant. The family would also like to thank Father Louis Richard for his wonderful spiritual guidance and blessings that he has given them over the past 14 years.
