VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Ville Platte today, Thursday, March 22, 2018, for Joseph Perry O’Connor, 78, who passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in Eunice.
Brother Kevin West, pastor of First Baptist Church of Ville Platte, will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery in Ville Platte.
Joseph Perry O’Connor was born in Chataignier, on October 17, 1939 to Dewey and Mary Ann Bourque O’Connor, he worked as a salesman with Frito-Lay where he retired after 11 years. Perry was a member of First Baptist Church of Ville Platte where he proudly served as a Deacon. He had a passion for serving God through out-reach ministries. He also enjoyed working in his yard, flowerbeds, researching genealogy and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. His family will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Emma Joy O’Connor; three daughters, Debbie O’Connor, and Lisa O’Connor, both of Ville Platte, and Rachael Bonnette and husband, Jody of Bayou Chicot; six grandchildren, Michaela Sylvester (Matthew), Angel Castille (Craig), Brittany Lavergne (Brent), Bridget Vidrine (Kevin), Bobbi LeCoq (Cole) and Brody Bonnette (Cesili); six great-grandchildren, Connor, Isaiah, Amelia, Mattox, Hunter and Ellis; one brother, Terry O’Connor of Ville Platte and sister-in-law Ruth O’Connor of Baton Rouge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey O’Connor and Mary Ann Bourque Fontenot; and two brothers, John Burke O’Connor and James Earl O’Connor.
The family requested that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will continue today, Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
