MAMOU - Funeral services were held at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. for Jennie Andrus Hollahan, 83, who passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones.
Father Tom Voorhies was celebrant of the mass and conducted the funeral services.
Rite of Committal took place in the Te Mamou Cemetery.
Jennie was a long time resident of Ville Platte and worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Reed Fontenot for many years. She enjoyed camping and spent many summers in Colorado where she loved to drink the cold beer of the Rocky Mountains while playing washer boards. She was very competetive and became a master of Bourré—drawing from her bookkeeping experience to ensure everyone put their share in to play. It was often remarked how she would put her finger down if you forgot to make your “quaterly” contribution to the game. Her Bourré career culminated in a gold medal at the Senior Olympics Bourré Competition of Prarie Manor Nursing Home, where she was also the 2018 Boggy Bayou Queen. Her family also remembers how accomplished she became as a seamstress. She made all the childrens clothes when they were younger, occasionally splurging when purchasing fabric, and hid the “excess” in the trunk of her car from her husband. Her family loved her dearly but is happy for her because she spread her light while on earth and they know she is with her husband in heaven.
She is survived by her two sons; Chris Hollahan and his wife, Amanda and Harry Hollahan; her two daughters, Lisa Perron and husband Derwin, Sr. and Angie Rodriguez and husband Dr. Oscar Rodriguez, Sr., and two sisters, Connie Higginbotham and husband, Richard and Gayle Cocke and husband, Wayne. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her 10 grandchildren: Robyn Sarkies and husband, Steven, Dr. Oscar Rodriguez, Jr. and wife, Amanda, Tyler Rodriguez, Michael Fontenot and wife, Brandi, Landon O’Pry and Hazel Garig, Bryant Vidrine, Katelyn Vidrine, Dustin Hollahan, Joey Hollahan and wife, Nina, and Derwin Perron, Jr. and wife, Jennifer. She also leaves behind her 15 great grandchildren: Ava Sarkies, Wesley Sarkies, Lena Rodriguez, Joanna Rodriguez, Jensen Rodriguez, Olivia Fontenot, Andrew Fontenot, Ethan Perron, Alexa Perron, Jackson Perron, Harley Perron, Baylon Perron, Jeremiah Hollahan, Jetson Hollahan, and Jolie Grace Hollahan.
Jennie is proceeded in death by her husband of 35 years, Harry L. Hollahan, parents, Ollie and Havard “Boss” Andrus and great grandson, Lane Michael Rodriguez.
The family requested that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Monday, May 14 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation continued Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary was led by Deacon Chuck Ortego on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.

CATHERINE VIDRINE NED
June 3, 1941 - May 8, 2018
In the beginning, Catherine Vidrine Ned entered this earthly home on June 3, 1941, to wonderful parents, Mr. Hosea “Pop Yo Yo” Vidrine, and Mrs. Fannie “Dous” Lee Fontenot Vidrine. They have both preceded her in rest. Early Tuesday morning, May 8, 2018, her spirit, quietly took it’s exit, from this earthly home. Catherine attended James Stephens School, and was educated by some of Ville Platte’s finest. In her teenage years she was baptized by Pastor Samuel Will Pullen, a former pastor of St. John Baptist Church. She was a good steward, serving in the ministry as secretary, for the missionary and deaconess boards. Due to the medical challenges she faced, it was in her best interest, and the ministry, to relinquish her duties.
Catherine’s parents entrusted her in the care, of her beloved husband of fifty-nine years, Sherman Ned Sr. To this union five children were born, two daughters, and three sons. Her daughters are, Kathy Ned of Ville Platte, and Bridgete Poullard (Harry James), of Opelousas. Her sons, Keveran (Mary), Lake Charles, Sherman Glenn Jr. (Sarah), of Opelousas, and Hosea I (Jacqueline) Ned, of Arnaudville. They were blessed with twenty-one grand- children, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She loved her nieces and nephews in a very special way. She leaves them in the best of care, in the hands of, Jehovah God.
Catherine shared her parents with nine other siblings, four sisters, and five brothers. Her siblings that have preceded her in rest are, Hilda V. Wilson, Hazel Vidrine, Ethel V. Richardson, Helen V. Lewis,Vernest, and Ernest Vidrine. Her siblings who remain with us are, Lincoln Sr. (Freddie), of Houston, Texas, Milton, of Citrus Heights, California, and Median Vidrine, of Dover, Delaware. Also, a very special sister-in- law, Ruth Vidrine, of Houston, Texas, and brother-in-law, Harold Lewis, of Ville Platte.
Catherine was referred to some as “Mom,” “Mau Mau,” “Dous,” Ms. “Cat, Cat,” and “The Cake Lady.” Her creativity has passed on to her family, in several aspects. She will certainly be missed for her laughter, and teachable moments. You could not come into contact with her, without learning something valuable. Her wisdom will always be cherished. Her selflessness in nurturing others back to good health, or, to some, until their demise, will be remembered, in a special way.
Catherine cherished her family, and made herself available to serve them, in whatever the need was. She traveled many miles, for the birthing, of her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor, friend, counselor, baker, cook, seamstress, painter, secretary, and story-teller. Catherine’s name may never be seen in lights, but it’s our prayer, that it’s in the Lamb’s Book of Life. She has written, her own story, it’s not ours to say where, she will spend eternity, but we do hope, it will be forever with, the Lord Jesus Christ. We celebrate her today, for time well served with us, on earth. It’s our hope, as we continue to write our story, that we see her, in the resurrection. To God be the Glory!
Visitation will be observed from 9:00 a.m. on May 19, 2018 at St. John Baptist Church in Ville Platte until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
