VILLE PLATTE- Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. for James Rickie Soileau, 61, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, who passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.
Pastor Kevin West of First Baptist Church of Ville Platte conducted the funeral services. Father Joshua Paul Guillory recited a rosary and gave an eulogy.
Burial took place in Ardoin Cemetery in Easton.
Rickie was a man who loved the Lord, loved people, and loved life. As a man of few words, he taught many just by the way he lived. He believed in honor and integrity, and he always made time for people. Throughout his life, he demonstrated the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He loved being outside hunting, fishing and passing a good time with family and friends.
His memories will live on through his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Christina Guillory Soileau; daughters, Christina Amié Burnham and husband, Dr. Jeremy Mark Burnham of Baton Rouge, Monique Marie Ardoin and husband, Brandon Paul of Scott, and Olivia Ann Soileau of Ville Platte; son, Gabriel John Soileau and wife, Lacey Jean Baldridge Soileau of Oceanside, CA; grandchildren, Alexia Nicole and James Kelly Ardoin, Jardyn Layne Soileau, Lincoln Adam Blanco, Evangeline Jean and Delta Gilbert Soileau, Avery Claire, Brielle Nicole and Jacob Mark Burnham; sisters, Debra Marie Soileau Daire and husband, Dr. John C. Daire of Lafayette and Mary Katherine Daire and husband, James Lester Daire.
Rickie is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ora Mae Leger Soileau and parran, Calvin Soileau.
The family requested that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Visitation resumed Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary was recited at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.
