EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Evans J.E. Wedlock, Jr. announces his passing on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 71. A Celebration of Life was celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial followed in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Rev. Kevin West officiating.
Evans, known as Payak to all, was a musician who enjoyed playing the accordion and the violin. He was featured in Southern Living magazine in an article about Cajun culture. His musician friends were like his brothers. He also loved taking pictures and the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Evans had many friends and had the biggest heart, never meeting a stranger. He loved his family and friends, but most of all he loved the Lord. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, of 19 years, Flo Wedlock of Eunice; stepsons, Daniel Fontenot and wife, Tammy and, Charles Fontenot, II and wife, Ruthie, all of Alexandria, and Brandon Fontenot of Pineville; brothers, Willie Wedlock of Bridge City, TX and Sam Wedlock of Nashville, TN; sisters, Alice Fontenot and husband, Michael of Butte LaRose, Valle Dupre and husband, Wayne of Ville Platte, Rose Duren and husband, Ray of Basile, and Priscilla Fontenot and husband, James of Ville Platte; 14 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; four step-great great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Evans and Leonise Latiolais Wedlock, Sr.; brothers, Hubert and Leas Wedlock; and sister, Shirley Dupre.
At the request of the family, visitation began on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., and again on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
