David James Ardoin born March 13, 1945, the only child of JD Ardoin and Winnie Pearl Vizinat Ardoin. As a young man he was an all-around cowboy. His young life changed abruptly when his parents were killed in an automobile accident on their way home from one of his rodeos. As a young adult he fought for our country in Vietnam as a member of the United States Army. Upon returning he met and married his wife of 50 years, Cynthia with which they had five children. David Jr., Clare, Steven, Sara and Allison. David was a licensed pilot with an extensive collection of model airplanes. He loved wood-working,drafting, gardening, reading, watching the Astros, caring for his herd of dairy goats, and he loved anything hands-on. David was your “how to” guy, he loved learning “how to” do anything new. His constant thirst for knowledge was admirable to say the least. David was a very devout Catholic who shared a special devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary and to Saint Padre Pio. David’s motto for life was “offer it up”, he lived and died with Christ in his heart. David always had a smile and kind words to offer. His biggest joy was knowing that those he loved were doing well. He will be deeply missed by many but his faith during this life on earth leaves those with great comfort and peace.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia Vidrine Ardoin of Ville Platte; two sons, David Ardoin, Jr. and wife, Paula of Richmond, TX and Steven Paul Ardoin of Ville Platte; three daughters, Clare Ardoin LeDoux of Ville Platte, Sara Ardoin of Whiteville and Allison Ardoin Elnaggar of Ville Platte; 14 grandchildren, Alexandra, Justine, Spencer, Kennady and Jacob Ardoin, Nicholas Balfer, Whitney LeDoux, Bethany LeBlanc, Elayne, Laura and Julia Elnaggar, Lane Perry, Angelique Fuller and husband, Jared and Hannah Venable and husband, Brett and one great grandson, Hayden Balfer and another great grandchild on the way.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Gemma Christine Elnaggar and son-in-law, Paul Rickey LeDoux.
