Charlene Coreil Hand of Baton Rouge, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the age of 70. Charlene was born August 25, 1947 and raised in Ville Platte, as the youngest of four siblings, born to the late Armand Bernard Coreil, Sr. and Thelma Perrodin Coreil. Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert “Bob” Joseph Hand; sons, Michael Kevin Hand and Jeffery Andrew (Emily J.) Hand; eight grandchildren, Ashley Claire, Matthew Joseph, Maxwell Coppinger, Marcella Coreil, Molly Kathleen, Mannix Cornelius, Maverix Cavanagh, and Myles Joseph (due Feb. 2018); and brother, Raymond Clyde Coreil. Her parents and brothers, Armand Bernard “A.B” Coreil, Jr. and Kerne Maurice Coreil, Sr. preceded her in death. Charlene and Bob were high school sweethearts who married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte, on Sept. 16, 1967. They shared their love over the years in raising their family and traveling. Charlene was a faithful Catholic who served God through the ministries of the church, as well as in her daily acts of humility. She was mostly recently known for her dedication to the St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church through involvement with RCIA, CCD, Catholic Daughters, Eucharistic Ministry, mass lector, bible study, parents’ night out, the food pantry, emergency assistance program, and community garden. Charlene will always be remembered for placing God and family above all else, the love she spread, being the world’s best friend, and her ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. She was also quite talented at spoiling her grandchildren as they were the lights of her life. She will be deeply missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services. Visitation will be today, Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge. Visitation will resume Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. followed by the funeral mass at 12:30 p.m. at St. Jean Vianney Church, in Baton Rouge. The burial committal will follow the funeral mass at Resthaven. Please honor Charlene Hand, if you are so inclined, with a donation to St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church.
