VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services will be held at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte today, September 8, 2022, for Celia Mae Ardoin, 94. Father Tom Voorhies will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte today, September 8, 2022, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Rosary will be recited today at 10 a.m.
Celia Mae Ardoin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Celia was born on July 9, 1928, to Essay and Emma Soileau Ardoin. She was a lifelong resident of Ville Platte and was a devout Catholic. She prayed the Rosary daily, was a eucharistic minister, a faithful member of Come Lord Jesus, a charter member of the Catholic Daughters, taught CCD for many years, and was a leader of the altar society. Her faith was strong, and she believed in God’s love.
Celia strongly believed in the value of education. She graduated from Grand Coteau college and went on to teach at Ville Platte Lower for 40 years. After retiring, she went on to substitute teach for many years. She dedicated many years of her life instilling the value of education in her students. She was an amazing mentor and role model to many. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but will rejoice in knowing she is celebrated in Heaven.
Celia is survived by her nieces, Kathy Coldiron and husband, Rusty, and Louisa Deville and husband, Doug, both of Ville Platte, Genie Duhon and husband, Gervais, of Lafayette, and Sondra Perron of California; and nephews, Mickey Alexander and wife, Missy, of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Dr. Tommy Soileau, Stuart Soileau and wife, Susie, and Guy Soileau and wife, Kitty, all of Ville Platte.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Essay and Emma Soileau Ardoin; and numerous aunts and uncles.
