VILLE PLATTE – Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Saturday, March 24, 2018, for Betty R. Mallett, 71, who passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Lafayette.
Father Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and will be conducting the memorial service.
Betty R. Mallett was born in Ville Platte on October 13, 1946 to John P. and Morine Fontenot Rider. She was a teacher for 34 years. Betty was a eucharistic minister and confirmation and catechism teacher at Sacred Heart of Ville Platte. After she retired from teaching she served as a volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She enjoyed her garden, and sitting on the back porch visiting with neighbors, family and friends. Her faith, her children and her grandchildren were of the utmost importance in her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Leonard Mallett; her two children, Monica Mallett Trekell of Shreveport and Chad Mallett and wife, Jacky Lock Mallett of Broussard; grandchildren, Jonah and Julian Mallett of Broussard and Lucas Trekell of Shreveport; and brother, Michael Rider of Ville Platte.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John P. Rider and Morine Lafleur; and brothers, James Rider and Winston Rider.
The family requests that a Memorial Visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
