Louisiana Swamp Pop legends gathered for a special event held Wednesday, December 10, at the Ville Platte Civic Center to celebrate the golden age of the music. The artists shared memories of how they began playing music and shared their insights as to what made the form of music so popular to this day. Among the stories shared was one of Junior Dugas being paddled by his school’s principal John Allan Guillot, better known as Johnnie Allan. The performers also answered questions from members of the audience. The event was recorded and will be available for purchase at a later date. All proceeds from the event benefitted the Louisiana Swamp Pop Museum.
