Chief A. Perry Thomas reports that an arrest has been made in the case of a 2021 black
Chevrolet Tahoe that was stolen at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, from the Ville
Platte Walmart Parking lot on East LaSalle Street. The vehicle was recovered after 2:00 p.m., Monday,
August 18, in a ditch off Cotton Festival Road. There was damage to the vehicle, and items were also
stolen from inside the vehicle.
After an investigation by detectives with the Ville Platte Police Department, a warrant was issued
for a 17-year old male suspect whose name is not being provided at this time. The suspect was arrested
in Bunkie, Louisiana, on Tuesday afternoon, September 9, 2025, and transferred to Ville Platte. The
suspect is charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and has a bond of $50,000.
Chief Thomas reminds the public that all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in
a court of law. He asks if anyone has information about this crime to please call the Ville Platte Police
