Narcotic agents with Evangeline Parish Sheriff Office along with Allen Parish SWAT Team, on February 2, executed a No-Knock Narcotic Search Warrant at a residence on the 100 block of 4th Street, in Mamou.
Narcotic agents seized the following:
95.55 grams of synthetic marijuana
1.15 grams of methamphetamines
one Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol
Alex Jumaun Oneal Ardoin, 35, of Mamou, was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of marijuana (synthetic) with intent to distribute, possession methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The following day, on February 3, narcotic agents observed a vehicle drive thru the intersection of a parking lot. The driver was seen acting suspiciously and driving erratically within the parking lot. Agents approached the driver of the vehicle and noted the smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
Upon making contact with the driver, further investigation led to CP6 canine Diego being deployed and alerting to the presence of illegal narcotics. A search of the vehicle was conducted by narcotic agents and the driver of the vehicle. Illegal narcotics and U.S. currency in the amount of $ 650.00 were seized, and Market Freeman was arrested and charged with the following:
possession of 2.1 grams of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute 7.1 grams of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute of 16 grams of marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute 12 grams of synthetic marijuana.
In a separate incident on the same day, narcotic agents, while patrolling on the Oberlin Road, observed a vehicle swerve from side to side within his lane.
Narcotic agents conducted a traffic stop. Once agents made contact, the driver was identified as Jason Richard. Upon contact, agents conducted a pat search for weapons and officer safety. Agents then located drug paraphernalia on the suspect. A search of his person was conducted, and agents located 5.3 grams of methamphetamine and three grams of synthetic marijuana.
Richard was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of synthetic marijuana. Richard was also cited for improper lane usage.
Later, on February 5, Evangeline Parish deputies, while patrolling in the Pine Point area, observed a vehicle cross the center line multiple times.
Upon initiating a traffic stop, contact by the deputies was made, and the strong smell of marijuana was resonating from the vehicle. Upon search of the vehicle and passengers, a male passenger in the back seat, identified as Lezett Watkins, 55, of Mamou, was searched. Deputies located approximately 22 grams of methamphetamine and nine grams of marijuana.
Also, the female passenger, who was identified as Dianne Viator, 37, of Mamou, maintained outstanding warrants for Mamou Police Department.
The traffic stop resulted with Lezett Watkins being arrested and charged with possession of a schedule II narcotic methamphetamine, and a criminal summons was issued for possession of marijuana. Diana Viator was arrested and transported to Mamou City Jail for outstanding warrants.
