Staff Report
Leila Thrasher has announced her bid to seek re-election to the Evangeline Parish Police Jury in District 4.
In her announcement, Johnson said the following:
“I am Lelia Johnson Thrasher, your current District 4 Police Juror. I began this journey two years ago after the passing of my father, Lamar Johnson, and would be honored to continue to serve our district and parish. I have chosen to serve in this position because I love it, not because I need it. It is rewarding to see accomplishments and good things moving forward for our district and parish.”
“I am a graduate of Pine Prairie High School and LSU Eunice. My husband, Derrick, and I have been married for 23 years. Together we have three children, five grandchildren, and several others who are like our own. We live in the Crooked Creek Community where we have built two successful businesses from the ground up, one being a construction business.”
“In my short two years, I have accomplished many major projects including: a bridge replacement, asphalting six roads, drainage projects that included culvert replacements in many locations, ditch and shoulder reconstruction, and larger drainage clearing. I have also budgeted and have been able to maintain old equipment and purchase new equipment. I am working continuously to make our roads better and safer to drive.”
“Quality experience is always better than quantity experience. You can do a job for a long time or a little amount of time. What matters is what you accomplish in that time. I have proven that I have quality experience to get the job done. Government is like a business and should be run as responsibly and efficiently as possible because it’s on the backs of the taxpayers that it is funded. Knowing the budget and managing finances is paramount. I run budgets for a living in my two businesses, and it’s what I do for our district and parish.”
“I consider this position an honor and am ready to continue to represent the great people of my district and Evangeline Parish.”
Thank you,
Lelia
