OPELOUSAS - Phyllis Green was presented the Woman with Heart Award for Evangeline Parish at the annual Power of the Purse luncheon sponsored by the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way.
Suzy Lemoine, a board member of the organization, presented the award to Green and described the recipient as having a “proven commitment to building stronger communities by providing leadership in volunteer services as well as serving in the ranks and has exhibited sustained performance over a period of years with more than one organization.”
Lemoine went on to say about Green, “All of her life has been wrapped around volunteering and problem solving in one way or another.”
Green retired after working 38 years at the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters Office. She now works as an outreach assistant for the Evangeline Parish Library.
