On May 7, 2022, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the 8100 Blk. of Bond Rd located in the Reddell area in reference to someone being shot in the leg. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim and the suspect (Gavin James)) were involved in a verbal altercation which became physical. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a firearm and fired multiple warning shots at the victim. At that point, the victim continued to charge at the suspect.
As a result, the suspect fired one round at the victim, hitting him in the ankle. The victim was immediately transported the Lafayette General Medical Center where he was treated for non life threatening injuries. The suspect was subsequently arrested for one count of Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery, one count of Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, and one count of Illegal Discharge of a firearm. The suspect is currently being held in the Evangeline Parish Jail with a $90,000.00 bond.
