A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, July 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mowata, for Carla Schultz Thevis, 62, who died Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 9:30 p.m. surrounded by her loving family.
Fr. Mike Sucharski, pastor of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, officiated the services.
Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery under the direction of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home.
The family requested visiting hours Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. A Rosary was recited Thursday at 6 p.m. Carla was a native and lifelong resident of Mowata. She was a 1977 graduate of Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish. She worked 44+ years for Louisiana Bank and Trust Company, which later became Evangeline Bank, serving as assistant branch manager and vice-president of customer service where she was loved and trusted by her customers.
Carla is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jeff Thevis of Mowata; one daughter, Emily Thevis of Houston, Texas; one son, Karl Thevis and his wife, Sara, of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Hannah Thevis of Lafayette; one sister, Susie Schultz Miller of Mowata; aunt, Mona Ward of Crowley; two uncles, Leroy Schultz of Mowata and John L. Schultz of Church Point.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Loraine Klein Schultz; and one brother, Jeffry Schultz.
Pallbearers were Lennie Ward, David Ward, Brett Blakey, Mike Redlich, Monte Thevis and Ricky Thevis.
Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Schultz and Mark Thevis.
