The Pine Prairie Village Council received word that two blighted properties belonging to the late Wade Deshotels will be cleaned. The news came during the council meeting held Thursday, September 10.
Mayor Quint West reported the ball got rolling when he got in contact with Deshotels’ son, Rankin.
Mayor West then sent Rankin photographs of the properties showing their conditions along with a letter authorizing the village to do the work to be signed and sent back to the village.
“I just wanted (Rankin) to have pictures because I wanted him to be treated fairly,” said the mayor. “I didn’t want him to feel like we were going on there and take anything they have.”
Councilwoman Tammy Hammond commented, “It’s going to be amazing to have these two properties cleaned.”
In other business, the council approved the donation of a 2011 Crown Victoria police unit to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.
