The Louisiana Department of Education released school performance LEAP scores Wednesday.
The Evangeline Parish School District received a District Performance Score of 76.8 which is a B.
At Wednesday’s meeting of the Evangeline Parish School Board, Superintendant Darwan Lazard stated, “The state continues to raise the bar. This accountability program is a race without a finish line. If we were performing where we’re at now three or four years ago, we would probably be an A school district.”
He continued, “Despite all the changes in accountability, I’m so proud of our employees, our teachers, our administrators, and our other staff persons both on campus and on the district level who work so hard with our children.”
The superintendant concluded, “We’re going to continue to work hard and recognize we have some challenges, but we’re looking at them as being opportunities to show what the students are made of here in
Evangeline Parish.”
School and school system leaders use the data to identify and implement strategies to support improvement in struggling schools. The state uses test results as one factor in evaluating school and district performance.
