Ville Platte will have a city-wide coup de main this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A coup de main is a swift attack that relies on speed and surprise to accomplish its objectives in a single blow. The objective here is to curtail the city’s litter problems.
Residents are asked to clean their yards and the areas around their property, including ditches and streets and businesses. All trash can be placed in garbage bags at the curb. Call City Hall at 337-363-2939 and give them your address. City workers will be around town in trucks ready to pick up trash. Also, two large trash bins will be placed in town; one on the northside behind the Civic Center near the tennis court, and on the south side at the dead end of Alton Locks Street past the MLK Center. These bins are for large trash items.
They are also asking residents and business owners to help others if their own property is clean. Elderly and handicapped people may need help. Any group or individual who wants to participate in the clean up can contact Diana Johnson at 337-789-3873. Mayor Jennifer Vidrine reminds residents the Ville Platte High and Sacred Heart High homecomings are coming soon. “Let’s clean up litter together! Let’s clean our city by cleaning trash and litter in our own front yards and ditches and streets,” said Vidrine. “Let’s be Bulldog and Trojan Homecoming clean! Let’s be Ville Platte Clean!”
