Ville Platte High School introduces its Interact Club

Ville Platte High School has a new Interact Club through the Rotary Club. Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
VPHS principal Melanie Moore said, “It gives the students an opportunity to get leadership experience. Anything we can do to get the students into something positive and teaching them about leadership, we’re all for it. Mrs. Virginia stepped up to be the sponsor, and to get a chance to partner with the Rotary Club is amazing.”
Virginia Shiver, Interact Club sponsor, said, “We’re looking forward to giving back to the community. I think we have many kids who love to get involved outside of school activities that help to better their community. These kids are very energetic. We’re hoping to give back to the community and socialize and interact more than just in the classroom.”
Shiver is the daughter of the longest active Rotary Club member Brent Coreil and the granddaughter of former Rotarian A.B. Coreil. She is now also an honorary member of the club.
