Longtime law enforcement officer Joseph “Joe” Brady has announced his candidacy for Evangeline Parish Sheriff in the October 12, 2019 election.
He is the son of Diana Brady, and the grandson of the late Vina Guillory Fontenot and Wilbur “Bozo” Fontenot, all of Pine Prairie.
Brady is a Pine Prairie High School graduate, and today has settled down in L’anse Gris.
He has spent over 12 and a half years commissioned with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office in patrol, investigations, tactical and process serving, as well as two years commissioned with the Mamou Police Department. In addition to this, he has kept current with 2019 POST class certifications while commissioned with EPSO, and remains current in both his sidearm and patrol rifle.
Brady’s career began in the marine transportation industry where he worked from the bottom all the way up to the top. He became a licensed Master/Mate in 2007 though the United States Coast Guard.
Today, Brady is a member of the Thin Blue Line Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club - a nonprofit motorcycle club with mainly law enforcement members who donate to charity, provide service for elderly and infirm and help bring together communities with outreach.
In making his announcement Brady stated, “Fair, trustworthy, a natural leader, hard worker and generous to supporting causes is what most will describe me as. I have learned all attributes to being successful in the management field. As a proven leader I take into account everyone’s safety, accountability and well being. Training weekly in a hazardous field is something I am used to and would like to keep that tradition in all professional aspects of my life. I will bring a fair and just leadership to our parish with integrity and experience to protect and preserve our parish for future generations.”
