Days before the draft was held at the Pine Prairie ballpark for the Dixie Youth season, Mayor Quint West updated the village council, during its meeting Thursday, on work that had been done over the past month.
“This month we poisoned every field, cleaned concessions on both sides, washed all buildings and bleacher covers, and opened up all drainage systems.”
He added additional work needs to be done on the pitching machine field and told the council he received a text message from Tony McCollough thanking “all of us for what we’re doing.”
Also thanking the mayor for his efforts at the ballpark was Councilwoman Tammy Hammond. “I just want to thank you for getting everything done that we talked about on the boys’ side,” she said. “We’ve done a lot with the new fences, and I think that’s great. I also appreciate you fixing the water fountains.”
She added the girls’ fields need a trash bin and new soap dispensers in the bathrooms.
In other business, the council:
• voted to adopt a resolution for Fair Housing Month.
• approved the renewal of the Intergovernmental Agreement between 911 and the village.
