EUNICE -- LSUE took care of business with a Thursday doubleheader sweep of Shawnee CC at Lady Bengal Field.
Couple that with the two wins over Shawnee on Wednsday and the Lady Bengals are now 27-5 on the season.
In the series against the Saints, LSUE out scored Shawnee 44-3. The Bengals netted a pair of mercy-rule wins Thursday, taking down Shawnee 9-1 and 12-2. LSUE has 11 run-rule victories on the season.
LSUE was scheduled to continue its season-long 12-game homestand last Friday as Coastal Alabama-South comes to town. In game one on Thursday, the power hitting duo of Madison Monson and Hannah Smith helped LSUE pull away from Shawnee CC 9-1 to secure a mercy-rule victory in five innings. The duo drove in five RBI and scored four runs on the game.
Game two on Thursday saw the Bengals rally from an early-two run deficit to score 12 unanswered runs in a 12-2 win.
Former Pine Prairie Lady Panther standouts Karli Ortego and Sara Tate had a huge hand in the game two win.
Tate was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI. Ortego picked up the win, pitching three complete innings.
