MAMOU – Amanda Ann Marcantel was born in Mamou, Louisiana on November 7, 1946 to Elius and Gladys Reed Marcantel. She was a lifelong resident of Mamou and worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistance at Savoy Care Center. She lived a fulfilling life and was nurturing toward and loved her family dearly. Amanda left this world on November 7, 2017 which was her 71st birthday and was laid to rest in the Bieber Cemetery at a later time.
Amanda will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her, especially her sons, Rick James McGee and Robert McGee; daughter, Belinda Childress and husband, Wesley; and sisters, Elivine Guiott and Delorse Marcantel. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She now rests with her parents, Elius and Gladys Reed Marcantel, son Paul McGee, brother Aubrey Marcantel, sisters Mazie Bertrand, Mable Marcantel, and Mary LeBlanc.
At the family’s request, a celebration of her life was held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou.
