EPSO conducts toy drive

Staff Report The Evangeline Parish Sheriff Office is collecting new toys and/or monetary donations for the needy children in our parish. Please drop off the toys or donations at 415 W. Cotton St. in Ville Platte. Toys and donations will be collected until tomorrow, December 9, at 4 p.m.

Located missing juvenile leads to arrest

Staff Report The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, on January 8, was contacted by deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) who requested help in locating a missing 16-year-old female juvenile.

EPSO correction deputy arrested for altercation

Staff Report On December 3, it was reported to Sheriff Charles Guillory that an inmate in the Evangeline Parish Jail was involved in an altercation with a corrections deputy. During the investigation, it was learned a disturbance took place in the jail involving multiple inmates.

Funeral services for Isaac Matthew Thomas were held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022, and officiated by Deacon Scott Payton. Interment followed at Te Mamou Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Memorial services for Mr. Wendell P. Fontenot will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Christ Church, Oakdale, with Reverend Greg Willis officiating. Mr. Wendell P. Fontenot, 67, of Pine Prairie, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 28, 2022, in Pine Prairie.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Bonnie Leday, 62, Ville Platte, was arrested December 2, 2022, by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for battery of a dating partner.
