With council approval, the Village of Pine Prairie entered into a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Evangeline Parish Water District #1 as a way of collecting past due sewer bills. Pursuant to the agreement, the village will collect the unpaid fees, and the water board will cut off services for any customers who fail to pay after a yet to be determined amount of time. Also, the village will reimburse the board for reconnect fees.

On Tuesday, May 18, Pine Prairie Police clocked a vehicle at 130 mph in a 45 mph zone on Highway 13. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit led officers through Turkey Creek where Turkey Creek Police joined in the pursuit which got to speeds of over 140 mph.

The Chataignier Village Council heard from Gail McDavid, Village Administrator, at their May 17 meeting. He said he continues to have problems with the sewer system. “I’m getting really frustrated,” he said.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • LilJohn Shaquille O’Neil, 22, Ville Platte, was arrested on May 14, 2021, by the Ville Platte Police Department for domestic abuse aggravated assault.
