EPSB hears literacy report for K-3 students

EPSO looks for suspect, arrests two for drive-by shooting

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a suspect, identified as Amanda Thibodeaux, who is wanted on multiple active felony warrants. Thibodeaux is a 44-year-old white female, approximately 5’4” tall and weighing 140 pounds.

Arrest is made in sex assault

By: TONY MARKS Editor A Mamou resident is in custody in Calcasieu Parish after being arrested for an alleged sex crime. According to reports, on May 13, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office began its investigation after receiving a complaint from a victim of sexual battery.

Charles Alvin Lafleur, aged 79, of Ville Platte, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2026. Born on October 19, 1946, Charles was the beloved son of the late Aster and Armina Lafleur. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Our Saviors Church, in Ville Platte.

Registrar of Voters Lucas Buller, would like to announce the close of books for the June 27 election. The last day to register in person or by mail is May 27, and the last day to register online using the geauxvote.com website is June 6.

Louisiana voters reject Cassidy and his costly policies

Last Saturday, incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) finished in a distant third place in the Louisiana Republican primary with only 24% of the vote. He missed the runoff, likely ending his political career. It was a stinging defeat for the longtime politician and two-term U.S. Senator.
