EP reg. of voters is arrested in Avoyelles Parish

Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters Ashton Lucas Buller was arrested in Avoyelles Parish, for charges of operating a vehicle while impaired and possession of schedule II CDS. Avoyelles Parish District Attorney Charles Riddle confirmed the arrest and the charges on Monday, October 14.

Healthworks Rehab, on Thursday, May 21, held preseason athletic physicals for high school athletes from Ville Platte, Mamou, Pine Prairie, and Sacred Heart. The physicals included screenings from optometrists, physical therapists, dentists, and physicians before final clearance.

By: TONY MARKS Editor A Mamou resident is in custody in Calcasieu Parish after being arrested for an alleged sex crime. According to reports, on May 13, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office began its investigation after receiving a complaint from a victim of sexual battery.

Charles Alvin Lafleur, aged 79, of Ville Platte, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2026. Born on October 19, 1946, Charles was the beloved son of the late Aster and Armina Lafleur. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Our Saviors Church, in Ville Platte.
